News has reached us of a wonderful success. For the last 3 years we’ve supported a local charity, Cherry Trees, who provide specialist short breaks for children and young people with disabilities. Over time we have provided practical and creative help to brighten up their environment as well as fundraising.
Tania, Head of Fundraising and Communications turned to us a few months ago, the surprise donation of a life size sculptural cow needed some artistic input, and did we have any ideas to help? That unusual request set the creative minds of Claire King and Georgina Ellis racing and they got to work with their colleagues in our painting studio.
Claire and Georgina’s distinctive and original design, incorporating beautiful cherry trees with a modern abstract element was painted onto a spectacular metal leaf base, created by young people from Cherry Trees working with our decorative painters. With this combination of talents Cherry Moo was born and her eye-catching decoration, ensured her place in the Surrey Cow Parade for the summer.
Last week Cherry was due to be auctioned as the finale to the great summer event. In the final moments, she was withdrawn having raised a far better offer! In total Cherry Moo raised a staggering £25,000 for Cherry Trees. We are so proud of the achievement, and feel terribly privileged to work with such an inspiring and caring team. Thank you Cherry Trees. www.cherry-trees.co.uk
