In the story of Stillness, light is juxtaposed with dark, colour is calm and muted, and gold threads dance among textures of stone, ceramic and glass.
Brutalist, architectural silhouettes sit alongside organic forms in silent unity.
Gauzy cotton linens, pretty block printed gathers and sumptuous velvet lampshades combine to create a cocooning atmosphere, diffusing light softly over everything it touches.
Beautiful equilibrium is achieved with hushed tones and serene quietness.
And all that exists is Stillness.
Sharing the same ambition to create things of enduring beauty. We invited Martin Brudnizki and Nicholas Jeanes of And Objects to collaborate with us for the first time. Characterful ceramics, with beautiful glazes, in shapely organic forms sit beside glistening polished brass lamps inspired by antique vessels and vases.
We also welcome back Gareth Devonald Smith, a longstanding friend of Porta Romana, who has created the mesmerising and awe-inspiring Rythmn Chandelier. Like musical notes dancing on a stave, Rhythm is a playful collective of abstract shapes interspersed with jauntily angled mismatched shades. Architectural and dramatic, Rhythm is a dynamic form with a fun sense of musicality.
