Maddie Rose Hills

The Primordia collection consists of three pieces designed by Maddie Rose HillsAll inspired by the idea of materiality and resourceful making.

Maddie Rose Hills is a British Artist living and working in Amsterdam. Her textural sculptures and paintings are made from found materials. Maddie considers this resourceful use of materials as a way of questioning what is waste and creating her own ideas of what is valuable.

Resourceful Making

The Primordia pieces originally sculpted by Maddie, using paper pulp and found objects have since been carefully recast by Porta Romana, using jesmonite, a water-based alternative to materials such as resin.

Jesmonite is then combined with a ceramic mix, a surplus product from one of our UK makers, ensuring reuse and resourcefulness are at the heart of the collection. The final pieces are then hand-finished in our painting studio making each one unique.
