Artist Julie Nelson lives and works in Brighton. This coastal setting informs her ceramic work and her fascination for the naturally occurring patterns, forms and repetitions which evolve in nature.
Her collections and installations, based on biology and botany, explore the diversity of form, whilst also highlighting the connectedness of everything.
Julie hand builds in stoneware and porcelain with layers of slip and matt glazes that accentuate elemental and microscopic detail within the surface texture. Julie’s collaboration with Porta Romana has sought to recreate this visual language with her Fir and Luna lamps.
